Oh my has it been 5 months since my last entry. I suppose
anyone who was reading this regularly has probably left.
Well since September 26 quite a bit has been happening.
Let's with Driven we had another concert after the Saginaw
Spirit hockey game at the Dow Event Center. This time it
was held in the blue line room which was very nice. Then
we did a concert at the Hartley Nature center for the Holy
Spirit Parish youth group. Then we did a concert at The
Father's Heart Ministries in Midland. We also did worship
for them in the morning and Craig preached to their
congregation. They are a fantastic group of people. Then
for personal reasons I took a few months off from the band.
I played for our church's Leadership conference in December.
I decided to come back to Driven just last week. I am real
excited about that. Our former rhythm guitarist Brad
decided to come back as well. It has been great having him
around again. September 26, 2006
This was one crazy week. Craig and I sang and played
music approximately 21 times in 8 days with performances and
practices combined. It was a blast though let me tell you.
First we performed a great 4 song set at the Christian
Celebration Center in Midland Michigan. Then we left their went
to orchestra practice for Living Word, this was on Friday.
Then we did worship on Sunday morning and evening at Living
Word. Then on Monday evening we had another practice for
the upcoming conference at Living. Tuesday night we had
practice and then the conference. This continued every day and
ended on Friday evening. On Saturday then the band
traveled to Bad Axe Michigan and did a concert at a family fun
festival. Then Craig and I again did worship at Living
Word on Sunday. The conference at Living Word was awesome.
David Huff came and played with us a couple of nights and he
also performed a couple of songs of his new CD. Daniel
Eric Groves and his band also came one night. This is the
first time I got to meet them and they are a great bunch of
guys. August 29, 2006
Vassar Battle of the Bands. On Friday Driven participated in
a battle of the bands in Vassar Michigan on our drummer Kory's
birthday. Happy birthday bro! Personally, I thought
we were certainly one of the better if not the best band.
However, due to the crazy way they did the voting we did not
win. They basically had a jar for each band and the
audience was supposed to deposit quarters in the jar of the band
they liked the most. Well the band that was performing
after us had more quarters in their jar than we did and they
hadn't even played yet. So, I suspect a little foul play.
hahaha. We did receive quite a few compliments from the
other bands as well which is always nice to hear. :-)

On Thursday last week our band Driven performed at the Unity
Festival in Muskegon Michigan. It was an awesome time.
Lincoln Brewster was performing on the main stage around the
same time that we were performing on the lake stage. This was
probably the only bummer part, because I am a big Lincon fan and
would have loved to see his concert. Kory's family came
and helped with the CD table. Here's a small clip of yours
truly "getting down" on our last song.

Even though this wasn't one of my events I did want to
mention that 2006 Invasion was completed last week. As before
the band Invasion came and lead worship every night. It
was a great time. A lot of teenagers experienced a touch
from God. You can visit
www.invasion.net for more information. I was blessed extra
this time, because my friend Alvin (the bass player from invade)
brought his AQ signature 5 string bass. It was a very sweet
playing instrument. It was also good to see, Greg, Andrew,
Shawn, Brian, Devin, Tracy and new comer Darrel again.

Ah, Beachfest what can I say, it was an experience to
remember. :-) Special thanks to Ron for organizing
the event. I hope the aftermath wasn't as bad. I
suppose anyone who's reading is probably saying, "what are you
talking about." Well, let me give you a little scenario.
There were 30 bands that were going to play on July 29, 2006 in
Caseville, MI. Ron, who is a great guy by the way,
organized this whole event. He started in February by
writing letters getting permission, etc. Well, when the
day finally arrived and the bands were progressing through the
day. He began to get complaints on the loudness and there
was a mild rainstorm that blew in for about an hour that caused
some problems. So, toward the end of the night is was only
getting worse. That's really too bad because I thought it
was a great idea for an event.

Well we just finished our summer "mini-tour" with Craig Lang
and Driven. We drove to Front Royal, Virginia Wednesday
night last week. Thursday evening we performed our first
concert. Then Friday morning we lead worship and then in the
afternoon we had another concert. I was able to meet the
bass player from Sonic Flood. They were playing later in
the evening after Tree63. We then drove through the night
back to Midland, Michigan. Craig and I then performed at a
Free Market at our church on Saturday. Sunday morning we
both assisted with the morning worship and then we drove up to
Charlevoix, Michigan for a concert in a bandshell at a park off
of main street in Charlevoix. It was so beautiful up there. Our
new drummer Kory did a great job at his first concert with us in
Virginia, however Kory had to go to New Jersey after our
concerts in Virginia. So, we asked this guy Mark from Flint,
Michigan if he could fill in up in Charlevoix. Mark said he was
willing. We ended up having a great time with him too.

Yesterday David Wells once again graced us with his
presence. *wink* *wink* David. David is a great guy and this
time he brought his wife and youngest son. Myself, Brian,
Greg, Chris, Jerri, Sue and Craig all backed him up and played a
couple songs off of his new CD titled "More Love, More Power."
www.davidwellsonline.com We also did a few songs that
we already knew, however David asked us to change keys, so that
he could more easily flow with the song. It was slightly
difficult but not unbearable, kind of fun actually for a change
up. June 18, 2006
On June 16th, Craig Lang and Driven lead worship for a mens
meeting at the Bay Valley Christian church in Bay City,
Michigan. We had a great time and I think they did too.
haha. The meeting was in their youth room upstairs at
their church. And let me tell you this was a cool youth
room. They had a very nice set up for the stage and being
a youth room the had pool tables, a foosball table, a ping pong
table. They also served pizza and pop before their pastor
came up and spoke to the group about being a father. It
was a great time. June 5, 2006
On May 28th, the band Driven lead worship for Living Word
North in Bellaire Michigan. We lead for both their A.M.
and P.M. services. It was a great time. This was the first
time that our new drummer Kory played live with us. He did
a great job. Bellaire is a beautiful area as well.
Pastor Klooster taught in the morning session and Craig (
www.craiglang.net )
taught on worship in the evening service. Joel helped out
with some photos and set up, great job Joel. It was a blessing
being up there.

This past weekend we were in Charlevoix Mi at the Family
Faith Church with Pastor Arp. Starting Saturday morning
Craig taught 2 workshops on worship and then in the afternoon
session each of us from Driven talked a little bit about the
different practical aspects of worship. And then Pastor
Arp spoke a few minutes about his perspective as a minister and
a musician and what a minister would like from the band.
Then in the evening we had a concert. It went very well.
The next morning we joined up with their worship team for their
morning service. It was a great time. Keep going
forward Caleb. :-)

Last week our church hosted the National Holy Spirit Conference
(www.marktbarclay.com).
Pastor Chris Holland from Indianapolis came in and led the
worship. It was a great time. Pastor Rick Lopez from
Westbranch, Mi came and joined our team on with his acoustic
guitar. David Wells (www.davidwellsonline.com)
joined us as well and we actually performed a couple of his
songs. He is a fantastic trumpet player. It was great to
see some friends from around the country that we don't get to
see very often, Bruce from San Diego and Tim from the Cleveland
area. February 23, 2006
